Writing a useful business device brief

Give procurement and deployment discussions a clear starting point.

1 minute read · Mobitron Blog

Describe the outcome

Explain who will use the equipment and for which tasks. Add quantities by role, configuration requirements, locations, timing, and support expectations. Label acceptable alternatives and open decisions so a proposal can address them directly.

Separate required features from preferences

For each role, list the tasks, software, device quantity, accessories, and setup work needed. Identify requirements that cannot change and preferences where alternatives are welcome. Add location and timing so the proposal can account for deployment as well as supply. A brief structured this way helps the project owner assess substitutions without losing sight of the work the equipment must support.

Your checklist

  • Users and tasks
  • Quantities and requirements
  • Timing, sites, support

Prepare your project brief.

Add your products, quantities, locations, timing, and support needs. Copying this checklist prepares a brief; it does not submit an enquiry.
