How to read a repair quote

Understand the work, cost, and conditions before you approve.

Compare the quote with the reported problem

Check that the quote identifies the right device and explains the proposed work. Ask which parts or tasks are included and what could require further approval. A clear quote should help you decide whether to proceed, not simply show a total.

Compare scope before comparing price

Two quotes can differ because one covers a replacement assembly and another covers inspection or a smaller repair. Ask what each proposal includes, what remains uncertain, and how any further work will be approved. A useful comparison keeps the same fault, part description, labour, arrangements, and warranty terms side by side. Choose based on the complete assessed proposal rather than an amount detached from its scope.

Your checklist

  • Device and fault
  • Included work
  • Cost and approval conditions

Choose your device and describe the problem. Repair work starts only after you approve a quote.
